Engineering of Manufacturing Processes

Abstract

The project aims to develop an integrated manufacturing and non-contact dimensional inspection system using sensors based on Conoscopic Holography (CH). To this end, these sensors will be integrated into machine tools, initially three-axis machines, by developing the necessary mounting, communication, control, and calibration systems, as well as studying their performance with different materials, surface finishes, configurations, and geometries. Building on this integration, an automated inspection planning system will be developed which, using the CAD model of the part, will generate the digitization points and trajectories, together with the corresponding machine programs. The results obtained will be compared with the CAD model to detect deviations and enable the correction of machining programs, establishing a feedback loop between manufacturing and inspection. Finally, the extension of the system to five- and six-axis machines and other production equipment will be investigated, with the aim of improving the automation, accuracy, and efficiency of the manufacturing process.
