Metrological and Reverse Engineering Analysis of Components

Abstract

The company DOGRAM is involved in an international CDTI project, entitled PV-Box-Grow, in which it provides support for the assembly and dimensional verification of large-scale structures for mounting marine solar panels. The project combines “hybrid” non-contact measurements obtained using different reverse-engineering technologies and equipment (3D laser sensors mounted on measuring arms, handheld laser scanners, photogrammetry, laser trackers, etc.), with the aim of ensuring the reliability and traceability of the measurements. In this context, the collaboration offered by the EPMan research group within the project is specifically focused on determining the capabilities and scope of applying this “hybrid metrology” concept using the equipment available at the company and at the University of Oviedo (Uniovi), in combination with the CMM available to the EPMan group as a reference measurement system. To this end, optical dimensional artefacts are defined and developed, calibrated using the CMM, and specific spatial multi-orientation accessories are developed to enable three-dimensional validation tests, albeit at laboratory scale. These tests will provide traceability for measurements combining these different technologies (hybrid metrology).
