Development of a Human Face Scanning System Based on Optical Sensors

Abstract

This project involves selecting and programming a time-of-flight (ToF) camera to digitize human faces for the manufacture of customized products, such as ergonomic masks. Initial tests were conducted on a test bench featuring vertical sensor displacement, using programs developed in C++ with Qt Creator, but the results were unsatisfactory. Consequently, the approach shifted to digitizing objects in a horizontal position, allowing for greater variation in the camera-to-object distance. The process begins with a flat surface to assess data quality. The project also includes mechanical design, PCB design and technical drawings.
