Development of an Optimized MEX Extrusion Head with Inductive Heating

Abstract

This project involves the study, design, manufacture, assembly and commissioning of a rotary MEX (Material Extrusion) print head featuring a non-circular nozzle and electromagnetic induction heating. It includes experimental testing of the induction heating process and detailed design supported by mechanical, thermal and electromagnetic simulations. The print head is manufactured and integrated into a low-cost commercial 3D printer (Ender 3), including the development of the hardware and software required to control the temperature and the additional rotational axis.
