Vibration Measurement in Additive Manufacturing Machines
Abstract
This project focuses on the development and validation of a vibration acquisition and analysis system for MEX (Material Extrusion) 3D printers, using MEMS (Microelectromechanical Systems) accelerometers and microcontrollers such as Arduino or ESP32. By implementing signal processing techniques, including the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) in MATLAB, the project aims to characterize vibration spectra associated with the printer’s mechanical operation, identifying frequencies related to moving mechanical components and the printer frame structure. The work examines technical aspects of reliable data acquisition, such as information loss caused by communication limitations and the occurrence of aliasing, and proposes solutions based on signal processing theory to ensure reliable analysis of the acquired data.
