Design and Implementation of a Functional Prototype for Focus Stacking and 3D Scanning
Abstract
In macrophotography, the depth of field is very shallow. Focus stacking addresses this limitation by capturing images at different focal planes and combining the in-focus regions of each image. The prototype integrates a camera mounted on a linear motion stage, a specimen positioning system, and software that manages the entire process from a computer, without requiring physical intervention by the operator. By positioning the object precisely, this technique can be combined with 3D scanning.
